Madeleine Meehan's MostlyMusicArt Covers all the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and beyond…

From the London Symphony Orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, el al, to the most recent “liaison” with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, Caribbean Dance Company, Jazz Islanders and all manner of music, dance and theatre, Madeleine Meehan’s pen and color is at the ready. Noted for her energetic output on paper and canvas, Madeleine’s artwork captures all these performers’ energies at the quick.

The Cuban-born visual artist was classically trained for the fine art approach with immediacy and verve. Madeleine’s work has appeared in hundreds of solo and group exhibitions, orchestra and music magazines, and the New York Times with her signature style reflecting the creative energy of musicians, dancers and performers in concert.

Madeline Meehan exhibits and “performs” her art during rehearsals and, discreetly, during performances. Most recently, she exhibited at St. Croix’s Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts coinciding with the Frederisksted Jazz Festival. She was “official artist” at the Istanbul Jazz Festival in 1995, exhibiting and “covering” with line drawings the musicians during performances for Yeni Yusyil, the national daily newspaper of Turkey. Madeline is currently “playing” with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, from the Reichhold stage to ongoing concerts at El Centro de Bellas Artes in San Juan where she will have an exhibition in conjunction with the orchestra’s 5th anniversary at the end of 2008. This MostlyMusicArtist grew up growing in the sand on beaches around Havana and listening to music with her musician father. She attended the “Fame”-famed High School of Music and Art in New York, earned a BFA from Cornell University, and is a life member of the Art Students League of NY, pursued graduate studies at Columbia, NYU, and the School of Visual Arts, NY.
